Chief Financial Officer Job Description

Position Description: Chief Financial Officer

Basic Function: This position is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.

Principal Accountabilities:

  1. Understand and mitigate key elements of the company's risk profile
  2. Construct and monitor reliable control systems
  3. Develop financial and tax strategies
  4. Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
  5. Manage the treasury, accounting, investor relations, tax and human resources departments
  6. Monitor financial reports
  7. Manage the capital request and budgeting processes
  8. Oversee the issuance of financial information
  9. Implement operational best practices
  10. Supervise acquisition due diligence and negotiate acquisitions
  11. Maintain banking relationships
  12. Arrange for equity and debt financing
  13. Invest funds
  14. Invest pension funds
  15. Maintain appropriate insurance coverage

Desired Qualifications: Master's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of progressively responsible experience for a major company or division of a large corporation.  Preference will be given to candidates with an MBA in Finance and the Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designations.
