International Anti-Bribery and Fair Competition Act

This is an amendment to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act of 1977. It expanded the prohibition on bribery activities to “securing an improper advantage.” It also expands the application of the 1977 Act to any act of bribery, not just those committed through the mails or interstate commerce. It also extends the penalties of the 1977 Act to any foreign company or its representatives engaging in acts of bribery while on U.S. soil. Finally, it expands the application of the 1977 Act to international public organizations, which can include such entities as the World Health Organization and the United Nations.
